Learn the rules of Visual Memory

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Visual Memory. Select every square that was shown. Selecting an unshown square ends the session. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Check the rule that explains your first action. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

One thing to notice as you play

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Make the next step deliberately.

The purpose of your moves

Select every square that was shown. Selecting an unshown square ends the session. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Keep the controls in easy reach.

The order of play

  1. Start a round and watch the highlighted cells.
  2. Wait until the board hides the pattern.
  3. Select the positions you remember; order does not matter.
  4. Complete the pattern to advance.

Choosing and moving on screen

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

One way to understand the rules

If the four corner squares were shown, select those four corners in any order. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the controls nearby.

Where a round can go wrong

Unlike Sequence Memory, this game does not require the original order. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
